Couch White Obtains Approval for New York’s First Off-Shore Wind Project

Mar 18, 2021

Couch White attorney Leonard Singer was successful in obtaining the required permits by Commission Order for the transmission line required to interconnect the South Fork Wind Farm to the electric transmission grid on Long Island. The South Fork Wind Farm is New York’s first off-shore wind farm. The permit for the transmission line was issued by the New York State Public Service Commission on March 18, 2021 under Article VII of the New York Public Service Law.  Len represented the project from its inception, negotiated a settlement agreement that was executed by the project owners, all of the involved state agencies and other stakeholders, and then successfully defended the agreement against challenges by groups opposed to the project.

The South Fork Wind Farm  is located 35 miles east of Montauk Point New York and will deliver approximately 130 MW of wind power to eastern Long Island. Couch White is dedicated to advancing projects like South Fork Wind that contribute to the creation of substantial renewable energy resources.
