Providing estate plans and business succession plans for the owners and managers of privately-held businesses is a significant part of our practice. Our estate planning attorneys advise business owners and managers regarding such matters as performing a diagnostic of where the company is, where its owners and managers envision the company after their retirement and implementing a plan to achieve the clients’ goals; preparing permissive and mandatory buy-out agreements with co-owners during their lifetimes and upon retirement, disability or death; advising and drafting mechanisms for the determination of a buy-out price between co-owners; and advising on and drafting mechanisms for the funding of a buy-out.
We advise owners and managers on the use of various types of business entities to achieve their goals, such as family limited liability companies and partnerships, including forming and stacking companies to best meet our clients’ present and future goals.
