Eric M. Leander is a member of the Firm’s Banking, Commercial Litigation, Corporate Transactions and Real Estate practice groups.
Eric provides a broad range of legal services to individuals and businesses throughout New York State, including corporate transactions, commercial real estate, real property matters, mergers and acquisitions, commercial financing, contract drafting and negotiation, private securities offerings, and business planning for start-ups and small to mid-sized businesses.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Leander worked with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, in the Division of Corporation Finance, Office of Small Business Policy, where he drafted small business compliance guides and directly assisted in providing entrepreneurs, businesses, and corporate attorneys with information on relevant securities law issues.
While in law school, Eric was a law intern with the Albany Law School Clinic & Justice Center in the Securities Arbitration Clinic where he represented clients in FINRA arbitration disputes and other related civil proceedings. Eric also competed in the St. John’s University School of Law, Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon.
Eric has also worked with the New York State Department of Law, Office of the Attorney General, in the Real Property Bureau on real property related litigation including surplus money proceedings and a deed construction suit involving timber rights and the “Forever Wild” provisions of Article 14 of the New York State Constitution.
Mr. Leander’s professional background is diverse, including banking compliance and financial planning experience. He also held positions as a private legal research clerk providing research services on issues including Federal and State telecom regulation in addition to real property issues involving easements and quiet title proceedings. As a research assistant with the Albany Law School Government Law Center, Eric assisted with editing a manuscript of land-use law treatise: Salkin, American Law of Zoning, 5th ed. (2008).
